Are there species limitations for scFAST-seq?

Answer:
scFAST-seq relies on rRNA blocking, and currently validated rRNA blockers are available for human and mouse.

  • Human / Mouse:
    Fully supported with optimized rRNA blocker design 
  • Non-human primates (e.g., cynomolgus monkey, rhesus macaque):
    Due to high sequence homology with human rRNA, blockers may still be effective, but blocking efficiency may be slightly reduced 
  • Other species:
    Can be processed, but: 
    • rRNA proportion may increase 
    • Effective mRNA data fraction may decrease 

Recommendation:
For non-supported species, consider increasing sequencing depth to compensate for reduced usable data.
